Have you ever spent time with someone who talked, and talked… and then talked some more? And you could hardly get a word in edgewise? It’s really no fun when you’re stuck in a monologue instead of a conversation. Yet I wonder if God often feels that way about us? For us, prayer typically means talking. And we’re much better at talking to God than listening to Him. We don’t really know how. But worse, we seldom even try. That’s our other L in BELLS: listening to the Spirit.

Jesus is the most incredible, mystifying, wonderful person you could ever study, and, as a missionary, he crossed the ultimate boundaries: God to human… eternal to temporal… infinite to finite. Don’t let yourself stagnate in your knowledge of and appreciation for Jesus. He’s the both the pinnacle and the foundation.
